Buccaneers Treasure Drop Riddles | 2020 Season

The 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers season wasn’t just memorable for the historic playoff run and home Super Bowl victory. It also marked the 2nd Annual Treasure Drop project—an initiative to give back to the Tampa Bay community and Bucs fans by having them solve riddles that will lead them to “treasure” in a landmark area of the region.

With the COVID-19 pandemic keeping fans from gathering at physical Treasure Drop locations this past year, our team improvised to make the drops digital, with participants submitting their guesses for the locations the riddles are hinting at via an online form. Those who solve the riddles correctly are then entered into a raffle in which prizes like Bucs merchandise and autographed items are given away.

Writing these riddles has been a source of pure joy for the past two seasons. The key is to take recognizable locations, and blend them together with clever wordplay about football, the Buccaneers brand, pirate themes and details about each location. We try not to make them too difficult—that way, we can encourage more fans to participate.

I can’t wait to see how the Treasure Drops evolve in 2021!
